Tendring Families First is delighted to be working with Essex University Law Clinic and it's students as part of a Public Legal Education project to develop a Parenting Plan to inform separating parents of the legal procedures involved in parental separation to include: Parental Responsibility, Mediation, Prohibited Steps and Child Arrangements .
When parents separate, there are a number of decisions that need to be made in respect of the children. The aim of creating a parenting plan is for parents to document their agreements about their child or children after they have separated. It is useful to refer to if parents cannot remember what was agreed. A parenting plan is an alternative to commencing court proceedings, which are generally time consuming and expensive. It can help remind all parties to put the best interests of the child first before anything else. It records practical issues about the child such as living arrangements, schooling, and health care. It can be useful in deciding how additional or unexpected costs, for example, a child’s school uniform, will be paid. It may be required from the court if court proceedings take place in the future.
The Essex University Students have skillfully produced a simple informative guide ( links below) to support during this often complex and difficult time. Please feel free to use the below documents as a guide to help to make decisions on the welfare of a child in the event of separation.
